A wonderful and truly stunning place that I am so fortunate to have explored a little. This painting was based on some photographs I took of the landscape and plants that I encountered during a memorable day out in the Cairngorm hills. A small rowan sapling poked through the shrubby undergrowth and one day it will help to transform this landscape. Loch A'an and the surrounding hills have been painted with cold water dyes using a stencilling technique and details have been picked out and enhanced with silk paints. This method of working brings a nice atmospheric quality to the landscapes.
