One of my favourite ways of colouring the silk is by using stencils that I cut roughly from old sheets of newspaper. The effect gives an atmospheric quality to the painting which I feel is perfect for the landscapes I wish to capture. The walk started by the light of the wolf moon and as we reached the Ryovan bothy the sky was beginning to lighten and the views open up. Bynack More, Cairngorm, Lurcher' Crag and the Chalamain Gap. Cold water dyes were used with some silk paints for detail on a lovely lustrous crepe de chine silk.
